Red velvet and deadly cupcakes

posted in: Recipes | 0

Having followed the Twitter foodies in Cape Town for quite a while now, I came across an event the lady behind Add to Taste was organising. This red velvet cupcake course was to support Nosh4Noah. This is the first I met the Cape Town food bloggers that I’ve been openly stalking for the past few months. Worrying that they might take me for a nut job, I was quite relieved to meet Julesdurrant, another fellow non blogging stalker. We were welcomed with delightful and delicate macaroons from Daniela’s at Foodandthefab’s house.

With sponsored aprons from Food24, we started mixing the ingredients sponsored by NoMu, Oded’s Kitchen and Fairview. The red velvet cupcakes, rich in cocoa and infused with vanilla pods, sent an appealing aroma throughout the kitchen. With so much cream cheese and the appliances working against us and Chef Neill Anthony saved the day creaming the icing, while we willingly egged him on. When they were done, we were ready with the icing.
